On July 3 the inauguration of the Healthy Path of Human Rights took place in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra) with the presence of the head of the Government, Antoni Martí; the representative of the Episcopal Bishop, Josep Maria Mauri; the Minister of Health, Carlos Álvarez Marfany; the representative of the World Health Organization, Tamás Evetovits; and the consuls of the seven parishes, among other authorities and personalities.

The road is a transversal project that has become a reality thanks to the joint work of the Government and the Commons, with the aim of creating an itinerary to promote the regular practice of physical activity and in which come together the promotion of human rights, healthy living habits, the natural environment and cultural heritage.

The route includes a journey of about 30 kilometers and runs from South to North starting at the Pont de Fontaneda in Sant Julià de Lòria and arriving at the refuge of Sorteny in the parish of Ordino. The 30 kilometers of the road coincide with the 30 human rights contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations.

The Path of Human Rights begins at the end of the Camino de Andorra, promoted by the Association of Friends of the Way from Pallerols de Rialb to Andorra, which has been represented by its vice president, Jordi Piferrer, by personal invitation to the opening ceremony.

Health Minister Carlos Álvarez said in his speech that the Healthy Way of Human Rights is an Andorran initiative, born with the will to be exported. In this regard, it has advanced that in September 2018 Andorra will propose at the 68th session of the World Health Organization regional committee, to create an international network of healthy paths for human rights. With this Path, it is put into value and unites the most genuine elements of Andorran identity: being a land of roads, welcoming, respect for the most fundamental rights and freedoms, and also a benchmark in quality of life, well-being and health, values that our Association has always defended and promoted.

Later, it is a question of extending the route from the Sorteny Refuge to the town of Siguer (France) passing through the Port of Siguer, a historic road of evasion expeditions carried by many jews and others persecuted during the nazi occupation of the south of France during World War II.

The steps of the Port of Incles and the Rabassa will also be recovered, stablishing a network of roads of evasion and defense of human rights, the first of which is that of respect for freedom.

This network of freedom roads is reflected in the attached plan.
